  • Sumac is a kitchen trailer currently located at Pen Druid brewery and farm in Sperryville, VA. Pen Druid rests on 27-acres of a permaculture farm with picturesque mountain views. While we aim to provide a casual fine dining experience through food, Sumac is not a brick and mortar restaurant. Guests will pick-up your food directly from the chefs at the service window of our kitchen.

    The brewery connects to the Sperryville River trail, a 1.5 mile path from the brewery farm to the historic downtown. The brewery closes at 7pm.

    This is a family friendly and dog-friendly location for leashed, friendly dogs.

  • Pen Druid brews wood-fired spontaneous, barrel-fermented and coolshipped native beer, natural cider, and wine. No outside alcohol is permitted. Drinks are purchased inside the Taproom. Read their story.

  • Sumac strives to source 100% of all proteins, vegetables, dairy, and grains from within 150 miles. Our chefs change the menu each week to offer you a creative take on fine fresh flavors, including sustainably produced and wild ingredients.

    With a seasonal approach to cooking and preservation, our menu offers a taste unique to the Rappahannock Piedmont region cooked over a wood fire.

  • The Tasting Menu is our prix fixe menu of the week. This is a hyper seasonal omnivore's menu comprised of five courses. Due to the nature of our kitchen, the menu is released weekly and regretfully, dietary are not available for the full Tasting Menu. Reserve tickets.

  • Please plan to arrive promptly at the designated ticket time. Check-in is at the service window of our kitchen located behind Pen Druid Brewing and farm. Sip on delicious brews available inside the Taproom, enjoy the view while your food is plated.

  • While we aim to provide a casual fine dining experience, Sumac is not a brick and mortar restaurant. Tickets allow you to reserve the menu only and guests will be self-seated.

    Seats are available inside the brewery’s cozy taproom, outside on their covered patio, or at the many picnic tables throughout the brewery farm— all with picturesque mountain views.

  • The Tasting Menu is an omnivore's multi-course prix fixe menu. Regretfully, we are unable to accommodate dietary restrictions on the Tasting Menu. There will always be a vegetarian/ vegan/ gluten-free option(s) available for a la carte or "walk up" orders.

  • A la carte orders are welcome in person on a first come, first served basis. Check-in with our team at the service window. There are a limited number available. Reserving the Tasting Menu is recommended for the best experience.

  • For parties larger than four, we recommend reserving tickets 30 minutes apart and enjoying your time together at the brewery. Please reach out to info.sumacva@gmail.com for assistance.

  • For in person transactions, there are 20% service charge + tax (9.3% Virginia and Rappahannock County food/lodging).

    The Tasting Menu ticket price reflects this service charge. If you should wish to tip on top of this amount, you may do so in person.

  • If you need to modify your arrival time, you may do so via the confirmation email up to 24 hours in advance. Cancellations can be accommodated more than 48 hours in advance. Tickets are non-refundable less than 48 hours in advance. For help rescheduling, contact us. Any other policy pertaining to special event ticket will be specified on the ticket.

  • Alcohol purchases are made separately inside the Taproom. The premise is not BYOB. Learn more at pendruid.com.
